OBJECTIVE

To secure a challenging programming position where I can utilize my superb technical and problem-solving skills to get things done efficiently, with all of the details right the first time.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

  • Since 1998, I have customized both the FileNet content-management system and the SalesLogix customer-relationship management suite—the latter, most recently, for a global non-profit organization headquartered in New York City—and built data cubes for reporting from Analysis Services (OLAP) for the loyalty-marketing industry. During that same time, I also created extensive customizations for the business world in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word, and developed numerous websites in ASP, ASP.NET and PHP

  • Extremely proactive, with excellent communication skills

  • Unsurpassed attention to detail

"... Love your 'can do' attitude."

—Gordon Ross, VP Online Division, Advantex

"Geoffrey Falk has demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills and taken initiative to create cost saving benefits for the organization with exceptional finesse, optimism and enthusiasm."

—Andre Doucette, IT Director, Advantex

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

SELF-EMPLOYED, Toronto, Ontario
Consultant CRM/Web Programmer, September, 2005 to present

  • Created and maintained SalesLogix customizations, on a monthly retainer for a global company headquartered in New York City, ensuring the accurate tracking of their customer/client information

  • Programmed business websites in ASP.NET, PHP, HTML, JavaScript and CSS, on contract

SELF-EMPLOYED, Toronto, Ontario
Freelance Writer, June, 2003 to present

  • Conceived, researched, wrote and edited a full-length non-fiction book. The PDF eBook is sold via my own e-commerce website, utilizing JavaScript, HTML and CSS within Active Server Pages (ASP) technology, with PayPal integration (in PHP) to accept credit card payments, and a MySQL back end

ADVANTEX MARKETING INT'L, INC., Toronto, Ontario
Software Developer, November, 2000 to June, 2003

  • Created an OLAP reporting application, in ASP utilizing a custom COM engine, reproducing and enhancing the OLAP reporting features of Crystal Reports 8.5, via ADOMD, MDX and DSO, thus providing for flexible and timely reporting off of our New York Times data cube. Built separate data cubes (with staging areas and fact tables created via T-SQL) for our CIBC, United Airlines, and US Airways reporting

  • Designed, implemented and administered all aspects of our CRM database migration from FileMaker 4 and ACT! 4.0 to SalesLogix 6.0, including all system architecture, customization programming for the SalesLogix GUI and database, and creating Excel-based reports, for a group of thirty Sales, Marketing, and Support/CSR users

  • On my own initiative, designed, programmed and tested automations (up to 10,000 lines of code) for the preparation of Excel and PowerPoint business presentations and reports in Visual Basic/VBA and dynamically-generated HTML, utilizing SQL calls to an Oracle database, saving this TSE company over $10,000 (Cdn.) annually in labor costs

  • Conceived and implemented a seamless automated Visual Basic solution allowing our Sales Department to run reports including "manual" merchant transactions, which were not present in the Oracle database. The entire IT and IS Departments had previously concluded that the problem was unsolvable; it took me less than five minutes to conceive of a simple and workable solution, and a mere fifteen hours to implement it

  • Copyedited and QA'd websites for US Airways and CIBC, logging over 100 variances in style and functionality for the US Airways Dividend Miles Online Rewards Mall, ensuring a fully-professional, world-class website. Of the final batch of twenty variances that I submitted, our regular QA professionals had overlooked all but three

  • Created detailed written documentation for the PowerBuilder code, PL/SQL stored procedures, and 150-table Oracle database architecture utilized in the daily mission-critical processing of credit card transaction files and awarding of Air Miles to CIBC Aerogold cardholders, ensuring the long-term maintainability of those applications

  • Gathered, categorized and integrated technical and business information, under intense pressure and near-impossible deadlines, for a $200,000+ (Cdn.) Internet Mall management proposal solicited by Northwest Airlines, getting that high-quality deliverable out the door right on time

  • Researched and created a detailed PowerPoint slideshow for communicating loyalty options to participants at the Canadian Gaming Summit. When presented to their audience by the Vice President of our Online Division, it resulted in a full thirty client leads

WOW FOODS, Toronto, Ontario
Information Services and Data Entry, April, 2000 to October, 2000

  • Formulated office policies and forms, ensuring timely and correct information flow. Entered data into, and created sales reports from, our MYOB accounting program, contributing to accurate order fulfillment; and assisted with Customer Service

HIDDEN VALLEY SOFTWARE PRODUCTS, Escondido, California
Software Developer, October, 1998 to July, 1999

  • Designed and programmed FileNet (electronic document management) customizations—back-ended onto MS SQL Server—from 2,000 to 4,000 lines of code, in Visual Basic. This, at a company managed by a senior project manager for the Lockheed Martin Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system

"I have nothing but praise for the efforts you put in. The [FileNet] training screencams that you made were excellent and showed not only attention to detail but an understanding of the system that is hard to find."

—John Leblanc
